Montgomery County officials look to cannabis project to restore Beech-Nut – Albany Times Union

CANAJOHARIE  – From pea puree to pot – that’s the direction that the abandoned Beech-Nut Foods factory looks to be headed with Tuesday’s agreement with Montgomery County officials.

At  a meeting of the County Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee, members advanced a deal to allow E29 Labs, commercial cannabis producers, to explore redeveloping the old baby food factory. In a statement from the county, officials said the step moves the factory one step closer to becoming “an economic engine for the region” by putting the property back on the tax rolls and creating manufacturing and white-collar jobs.
